Scholarships

The ODEI is committed to the growth and development of the Dental Hygiene profession.  The institute feels it is important to aid in the pursuit of higher education and provides scholarships to individuals pursing an education in dental hygiene.

  • Applicants must meet all of the eligibility requirements and deadlines to qualify.  Scholarship awards will be applied toward tuition fees.  
  • Individuals applying for a scholarship must complete the application process and send documents to the address below.

Available Scholarships:

Academic Achievement
This scholarship is awarded to an applicant who has excelled in their post-secondary academic career. Applicants must have obtained a BA or two year college diploma from any recognized institution with no failures. An applicant’s cumulative average will be used to award this scholarship. Requirements: This award is based primarily on academic merit and does not require a separate application. 1 $1000 scholarship is awarded each intake and will be put towards the tuition fee. The winner will be notified during orientation day.
Applicants with Strong Social Advocacy
This scholarship is awarded to an applicant who has contributed to the dental industry or the community-at-large. Requirements: Applicants are required to write a 500 word essay on how they have given back to the community. 3 letters of references (employer, one RDH, community leader) are required. 1 $1000 scholarship is awarded each intake and will be put towards the tuition fee. The winner will be notified during orientation day.
Applicants who are Dental Assistants
This scholarship is awarded to a current Dental Assistant (Level 1 or 2) who wants to further their career by enrolling in ODEI’s Dental Hygiene Program. Requirements: Applicants must submit an original Dental Assistant transcript from a recognized institute. A 500 word essay on how they have given back to the community in a dental way and 3 letters of references (employer, one RDH, community leader) are also required. 1 $1000 scholarship is awarded each intake and will be put towards the tuition fee. The winner will be notified during orientation day.
Men entering the Dental Hygiene Program
The Dental Hygiene field is largely populated by women and ODEI would like to encourage and welcome any male applicant to enter this exciting and stimulating career. Requirements: This scholarship will be awarded to a male who has great academic standing and who is socially aware. 2 letters of reference from faculty and extracurricular activities also figure prominently in the choice of recipient. 1 $1000 scholarship is awarded each intake and will be put towards the tuition fee. The winner will be notified during orientation day.
Applicants with Family Obligation
ODEI understands the hardships individuals must overcome when balancing an education or career with a family. This scholarship aims to help individuals who are continuing their education and reentering the workforce with financial need and extinuating family obligations. Requirements: Applicants are required to write a 500 word essay briefly describing their family obligations or circumstance.  1 $1000 scholarship is awarded each intake and will be put towards the tuition fee. The winner will be notified during orientation day.
