| Course Description: | Describing Oral Lesions is designed to increase documentation skills when oral lesions are discovered. We will discuss the DH process of care, review common lesion descriptors, and consider dental hygiene referral pathways. Case studies will provide opportunity to work through a step-wise process of formulating clinical descriptions for appropriate documentation and professional communications. The second component of this course, Transforming Theory into Practice, is designed to empower participants to implement oral cancer screening exams into routine clinical practice. We will identify barriers to performing the exams, discuss strategies to overcome them, and practice hands-on skills in a peer-supported collaborative environment. | |||||||||
